Located at 300 Katon Road in Montesano, Washington is an outdoor haven for nature lovers, with and without disabilities. At this great location, just minutes from the highway, you can find access to one of the very few "Handicapped Accessible" recreation area's in the US. Friends Landing is located along the Chehalis River with a 32 acre man made lake with handicapped access to hiking, fishing, camping and bird watching.
The Lake has a 1.7 mile paved trail that circles it where one may bike, rollerblade, walk or roll a wheelchair and enjoy the serenity of nature, up close and personal! There is a large variety of wildlife to observe including birds, eagles, deer,beavers and much more, plus the opportunity for some great nature photography.
There is fishing off river, and lake fishing that includes fishing shacks bordering the river as well as floating pier access, a concrete handicap accessible boat launch plus a floating pier access into the river. In the river there is sturgeon fishing year round, and when the salmon are running there is great salmon fishing either from the pier or in your boat and in the lake there is seasonal fishing.
